Guess who's back.
I'm home at last and it feels incredibly good. For some reason, I realise i don't actually like writing those post holiday blog entries, and so i shan't, perhaps with the exception of a few of this trip's highlights:
1) I paid 50 pence for the use of a public toilet in central London, and that works out to about S$1.50. It reminded me of harrowing days in the past when we needed to pay S$0.10 (or was it twenty) for the use of the toilet at Lido's movie level.
2) I was wearing long sleeves, jeans, a coat over, and a scarf in London's SUMMER, and i was freezing. how much i wished i had my gloves with me as well.
3) On one of my days in Madrid, it was 42 degrees celcius apparently, BBC news weathercheck. Put that together with the gin dry air filled with dust and pollution from heavy traffic, an impending sorethroat loomed mercilessly.
4) There's way too much horse poo in the parks in London, way too much piss in the streets of London, and way too much spit along the side curbs of the piss filled streets of London.
Ok there were a lot more things along the way that i told myself i would blog about while sight seeing, but nothing else comes to mind right now. Anyhow, the trip was really enriching, these minor occurrences aside. I miss London's fantastic arts scene- their avant garde culture rekindled in me an old flame that is now alight and blazing; i miss Barcelona's quaint little streets that i originally thought shabby, but its forlorn beauty that was contrasted by its inhabitant's warmth later left me astounded- the orange sunset homes with pretty flowers that line almost every narrow rectangular shaped balconies was a remarkable sight; i miss the perfect deep blue of Ibiza's beaches (and oh the topless women!); i miss the brilliant spanish dish i had in Madrid- paella. :)
I'm really glad im back though- i miss my family and friends so much, and i really miss Singaporean food too. Had major cravings for chilli crab, chicken rice, hokkien mee, prata and hor fun while i was there. School's starting really soon, so onto accomplishing what i originally set out for myself this holidays!

If i have no other virtue, I at least have the permanent novelty of free, uninhibited sensation.
